Jason Brown will be competing in the 2022 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Nashville. Here’s what to know about him:
This season
Brown has claimed one gold medal so far in the 2021-22 figure skating season. That came in the 2021 Finlandia Trophy, scoring 262.52 points, beating Russia’s Mikhail Kolyada by 5.54. He is the fourth American to win the trophy since its inception in 1995, and the first since Nathan Chen in 2016.
US Championship experience
Brown has medaled six times at the US Figure Skating Championships, including each of the last three years. He won his first gold medal at the 2015 championship, although he also won gold as a junior in the 2010 event.
World ranking
Brown first broke into the world standings in 2010, ranking No. 71. He steadily climbed the rankings over the course of the next decade, reaching as high as second in 2021. He has spent each of the last seven years inside the top 10.
