Emergency Shelter – How to help
True-Lite Christian Fellowship and Backyard Midland are partnering to serve those who will be outside during the frigid temperatures headed to the region.
They will provide a winter shelter, beginning at 8 p.m. Wednesday and continuing through noon Saturday at the church, 3001 N. “A” St.

Crisis Readiness Program
Breaking Bread Ministries has developed the Community Crisis Readiness Program to help support the emergency management system in Midland County.
Since 2021, Breaking Bread has coordinated with the mayor’s office, the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, the Midland Police Department, the Midland County fire marshal and emergency management to devise a dedicated plan to help the community with volunteer response and preparedness in support of first responders during emergencies, crises and inclement weather.
“We strongly and lovingly ask that the Midland County community not act as individuals in situations, such as the current potential for winter storm,” Breaking Bread’s Trey Atwater wrote. “If anyone is willing and available to be a part of the response plan, please coordinate with the Breaking Bread Ministries control center at the following number 432-689-2339 to join the list of volunteers. This ensures the safety of our volunteers, first responders and those in need of emergency services.”
In preparedness for the current weather advisory, there are primary, secondary and tertiary response plans in place and currently on-call, Atwater wrote. Questions, concerns and volunteer inquiries should all be directed toward the Breaking Bread Ministries Control center number in order to maintain accountability of personnel, continuity of safety procedures and best stewardship of community resources.
