Pauline W. Stiner

Knoxville, Tennessee – Pauline W. Stiner, age 93 of Knoxville, Tennessee, met Jesus face to face on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Trinity Hills of Knoxville. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at New Market Baptist Church’s Vacation Bible School at twelve years of age. She was a long-time member of McCalla Avenue Baptist Church and Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church, where she taught preschool for many years. A graduate of Duke Nursing School, Polly worked at various physician offices in the East Tennessee area followed by a career as an RN at The University of Tennessee Medical Center, retiring from UT Medical Center in 1995. Polly was an active servant of the community, serving through WMU and Altrusa International.

In the sweetest love story, she shares her heavenly birthday with her husband, 48 years apart. Preceded in death by her husband, Don Lee Stiner; parents, Oscar Napolean and Lillie Maude Walters; siblings, Mossie Lee Haworth, Hazel Butcher, John Walters, Ruth Loy, Ed Walters and Nell Mitchell. She is survived by daughter Donna (Tim) Vineyard; grandchildren Justin (Frances) Vineyard and Jennifer (Rocky) Riley; beloved great-children Jacob, Jackson, Joshua, James, Justin, Tucker, and Lucia; also many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. The family is especially grateful to the staff and caretakers at Trinity Hills of Knoxville who so lovingly cared for Polly over the last few years, as well as Amedisys Hospice, who helped her in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, please thoughtfully consider a contribution in memory of Polly to Trinity Hills of Knoxville or The University of Tennessee Medical Center’s Nursing Education Gift Fund. Gifts to UTMC can be made online or sent to the Development Office at: 2121 Medical Center Way, Suite 110 | Knoxville, TN 37920.

There will be a call of convenience on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 10 AM – 4 PM at Bridges Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at noon at Bridges Funeral Home and will travel in procession to Greenwood Cemetery for a 1 PM interment with Rev. Rocky Hodge officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim, Justin, Jacob, Jackson, Joshua, and James Vineyard and Rocky and Tucker Riley. Arrangements by Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 865-523-4999. www.bridgesfuneralhome.com
