Duke and North Carolina battling in the NCAA Tournament for the first time? In Mike Krzyzewski’s final season? With a spot in the championship game on the line? It sounds like a setup straight out of a Hollywood movie script, but it’s actually happening on Saturday night.
The Blue Devils will not only be looking to extend their March Madness run, but also to exact a measure of revenge against the Tar Heels. North Carolina spoiled Krzyzewski’s last home game with a 94-81 victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium on March 5. Duke has won six of its last seven games since that tough loss, including a 78-69 win over Arkansas in the Elite Eight.
UNC is hoping it can end the Coach K retirement tour after impressively navigating its way through the East Region of the NCAA Tournament bracket. The Tar Heels defeated Marquette, Baylor and UCLA before blowing out Saint Peter’s on Sunday to punch their ticket to the Final Four.
