The percentage of COVID-19 inpatients in the 16-county Abilene trauma service area was 4.73% of total capacity Sunday, compared to 4.86% Saturday and 4.94% Friday, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services COVID-19 database.
The Abilene trauma service area Sunday had 46 COVID-19 inpatients, two fewer than Friday. The state also reported Sunday four admissions were made in the previous 24 hours.
Brown County adds 1 death, 43 new cases
BROWNWOOD – Brown County health officials reported Friday one COVID-19-linked death and 43 new cases for the week ending Dec. 17.
The deceased is a man in his 70s.
New cases totaled 59 the previous week.
The county also reported Friday two COVID-19 hospitalizations and 59 active cases. The previous week, there were five COVID-19 inpatients and 56 active cases.
The percentage of county residents aged 5 and older who are fully vaccinated is 41.16%, which is less than the 41.92% the county reported the previous week. There was not an explanation for the decline in the vaccination percentage.
The current totals for COVID-19 testing in Brown County as of Friday were:

- Total negative: 10,156
- Cases confirmed by PCR test: 3,445
- Cases confirmed by antigen test: 3,859
- Deaths: 195
- Average age of deceased: 66
