The Texas Comptroller’s Office shows Midland County’s sales tax collection fell 13.61 percent compared to fiscal year 2020. The county collected $41.337 million, which was more than $3 million compared to the $38 million forecast. That means the county surpassed its forecast for the ninth time in the last 10 years.
The fiscal year drop followed a 24.43 percent decline last year. In terms of a total collection, the county’s sales tax collection was $63.324 million in FY 2019 and $47.853 million in FY 2020.
The county’s fiscal year ended in November.
