Dunkirk Mayor Wilfred Rosas would get his name erased from the Memorial Park sign, under a resolution on Tuesday’s Common Council agenda.
The sign was erected in 2017 after, as the resolution notes, “parties had trouble locating the park for events and concerts.” The words “Mayor Wilfred Rosas 2017” are at the bottom of the sign.
According to today’s resolution, sponsored by Councilmembers Nancy Nichols and Don Williams, “Apparently councilmembers have received several complaints about said sign, namely that it should not list any elected official or political figure.”
It goes on to state, “The rationale offered is Memorial Park is itself a monument to veterans of all the conflicts historically that Dunkirk residents have served this country in through its armed forces.”
