Anonymous, 7 hours agoSony headphones are mostly great.I wonder which model can be considered as great … I own few Sonys and tested a few more.
I am genuinely curious if I missed some decent Sony model.

They even had some ER4B which is sadly discontinued now – it was some kind of “binaural” edition. It might not be good, but I was really pumped to try them out … sadly, I was not able to secure them in time.

Even if you start at er2 series , the maximum you would go is er4 series (evo ain’t that good afaik).

T2 plus + sonata HD pro was my longest chifi daily driver. They are excellent.
Then I went the etymotic route and it’s been the longest I haven’t changed anything. I’m not even mentioning the over ear stuff.
Looking up, even though I don’t have 4 boxes, I seem to have 2 boxes of stuff with additional accessories like cable, eartips and earpads. Yeah, I am a hoarder 😂.
You may be true about the takstar, I heard it during my pre chifi rookie stuff. So, I maybe only remembering the good stuff.

I have like 4 boxes and one wall with 10 hangers full of this stuff.
I know it’s rebranded Takstar, but I never considered their stuff as anything but below average + I personally really do not like Cloud I/II ++ that USB stuff is really, truly, pure “garbo” … it makes those headphones sound much worse.
Chi-fi … I am usually a fan of that, if you know what you are looking for – some KZs, Tempotec DACs, TinHifi and many others really cheap, IMHO superb for the price.

I didn’t get your comment about chi-fi because of “not not” , idk whether it was intended or not.
Regarding hyperx cloud 2, it’s actually a rebranded takstar pro 80. Not like their other garbage stuff because it isn’t their stuff to begin with.

Not to mention, it can get pretty expensive pretty fast, when you are not not going for chi-fi which there are bunch of excelent headphones – like some KZs.

Sony headphones are generally bad, but HyperX are bad even in terms of gaming headsets.

No matter what you do, wired headphones with gold plated jack + amplifier will be better than any lagging wireless headphones. Maybe grannies won’t notice the difference, but audiophiles and gamers sure will.

Anonymous, 09 Apr 2022All gaming headphones are horrible if you care about sound quality. Go for big brands.Not 100% accurate. Sure you have tosh like HyperX, Steelseries and others is just wasted time and money, but SPC Viro Infra for example, that’s actually usable for its price.
Sadly, a lot of big brands left the space + Sennheiser is pretty much gone. AudioTechnica, Beyerdynamic are still holding their ground, but brands like Hifiman often offer better value for the money.
I am not taking Sony, Beats and other tosh into equation … I hope that’s clear. I tried to make a semi serious comment, so I am ignoring brands that do not deserve to even mention.
