One of the world’s most famous computer animation studios currently boasts 24 movies. Pixar also has several theatrical short films and feature-related animations. The anthropomorphic characters and adorable animation transports viewers to a magical world that fully immerses the audience. With additional chapters or a spin-off series, a character’s legacy can continue.
Disney fans were treated to Pixar Popcorn in 2021, a series of feature-related shorts which gives viewers a brief dose of their favorite Pixar protagonists. While some movies are often followed up with sequels, spin-offs and TV shows allow characters to develop further. Producers can often expand on the fictional universe they have created in feature films.
10 Dory Is A Beloved Pixar Character
After the release of Finding Nemo in 2003, Dory made a huge impression on the public with her energetic and good-natured personality. Her friendly antics and quirky manner are the foundations of her beloved character. She managed to win over viewers so much, she earned the sequel Finding Dory.
Because of her likability, Dory deserves her own series and it would guarantee to amuse fans. The spin-off would prolong the franchise further and allow more fishy friends to be introduced. New antagonists who often visit the reef would also keep fans engaged, and writers could gain new opportunities for storylines.
9 Geri’s Friends And Family Could Be Expanded On
Geri is an abstruse and less-known character in the world of Pixar. He is the protagonist in the animated short, Geri’s Game, where he ends up playing a game of chess against himself. This elderly individual proves age is just a number and life is what you make it.
With Geri being the only character in the Pixar production, other characters would need to be added to allow substantial dialogue to happen. Geri’s family could be expanded on, as could his close friends who might join Geri in activities.
8 Dash Has Yet To Show Fans His Level Of Endurance And Top Speed
The Parr family each have their own superhero traits and talents. The second child of Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, is Dash. The Incredible’s Dash possesses super-speed. When he is fighting alongside his family, the battle sometimes takes place in one location. Dash usually runs circles around his enemies.
Fans have yet to see Dash’s level of endurance and top speed. In his own spin-off, fans would likely see more of Dash’s capabilities as he grows up into a young adult. He may even integrate more with his school friends, which could introduce viewers to characters and potential evil antagonists.
7 Sid’s Uncontrollable Behaviour Could Be Explained In A Spin-Off
In 1995, Disney fans got their first glimpse of Sid in Toy Story. Sid is Andy’s next-door neighbor with a concerning appetite for destruction. In Toy Story, fans learn that Sid likes to take toys apart and rebuild them with different components. From any toy’s point of view, this Frankenstein hobby is concerning.
A series centered on Sid’s upbringing could explain his behavior. His unique collection of toys would be included in the spin-off, each of which could have a backstory explaining their origin and modifications. His younger sister, Hannah (who appears to be much sweeter than Sid), would be in line for a minor protagonist.
6 WALL-E Spent A Lot Of Time On Earth Before The Movie
The WALL-E universe is an interesting concept with plausible ideas, some of which may become reality. Earth is a world where humans have fled the uninhabitable planet in order to save mankind. The last robot left on Earth is WALL-E, and although he spends a lot of his time cleaning up waste, he has positive programming and an inquisitive outlook.
If WALL-E had a prequel series, viewers could gain an insight into what else he encountered during his 700 years on a desolate Earth. The planet could be visited by extraterrestrials or experience extreme weather. His only known companion is Hal, his resilient cockroach friend who would likely join the curious robot on his quests.
5 Mr. Potato Head Is A Fan-Favorite
Another character in the Toy Story franchise is Mr. Potato Head. As well as changeable features and limbs, the walking spud has a New York accent and quick wit that humors both children and adults. He is often grumpy, but shows determination and leadership when it comes to completing tasks and caring for his friends.
Although this fan-favorite briefly appears in episodes from the Toy Story Toons collection, he doesn’t get much screentime nor is he heavily involved in the plot. A series dedicated to Mr. Potato Head would allow this character to flourish once more. Mr. Potato Head could shine through the abundance of toy characters created for the feature films and related animations.
4 Syndrome’s Backstory Remains Untold
The main antagonist from The Incredibles is Syndrome, whose real name is Buddy. As a child, he was a huge fan of Mr. Incredible and aspired to one day work alongside the superhero under his own alias, Incrediboy. After his attempts at trying to impress his idol, Mr. Incredible claims that he works alone and is clearly not interested in a sidekick.
Buddy then loses faith in his favorite superhero and pursues the life of an evil genius. The story of how Buddy grows up, becomes rich, and invents loads of cool gadgets is untold. A series that explores this transition from good to evil would help fill in the gaps of Syndrome’s rise to power.
3 Ernesto De La Cruz’s Early Music Career Could Be Explored Further
The main antagonist in Pixar’s 2017 release, Coco, is Ernesto de la Cruz. Before he found himself in the land of the dead, he was known as the greatest musician in all of Mexico. Child protagonist, Miguel, looks up to Ernesto before it becomes apparent that his idol’s rise to fame was dishonest.
With his own series, fans could learn how this Disney character originally got involved with music with his former friend, Héctor. A spin-off could look further into the friendship between the two and their career. A TV show could elaborate on Ernesto’s lifestyle during his stardom to see if this character shows any remorse for his actions.
2 The Circus Bugs’ Adventures Would Make An Entertaining Spin-Off
In A Bug’s Life, Flik leaves the ant colony and heads to the city. It’s then that fans are introduced to the circus bugs who perform at P.T Flea’s World’s Greatest Circus. The circus bugs put their lives in danger and risk the circus’ reputation to perform amazing feats.
In their own series, viewers will see more death-defying stunts and witness the group’s adventures on the road. The bugs would likely tour insect cities and other colonies, meaning they will meet many new characters which will pave the way for a solid first season.
1 With Edna “E” Mode In The Spotlight, Viewers Can Learn How She Discovered Her Talents
The designer responsible for making almost all of Mr. Incredibles’ costumes is Edna Mode. She appears in both movies from the franchise and is voiced by the films’ director, Brad Bird. As well as an admirable sense of style, Edna often includes quirky gadgets and useful features in her outfits.
Edna has a hilarious reputation among fans and will surely amuse viewers even more with her own spin-off. With Edna in the spotlight, viewers will learn more about her manufacturing methods and the clients she works with. Edna clearly has talent and the story of where it came is yet to be told.
